Spacetalk & Grok Academy • 2022/2024 • Adobe Illustrator & After Effects
On this page I’ve collected motion graphics that either support or showcase products I’ve worked on. These first videos were developed at Grok Academy as part of a brand refresh. I was looking at using animation to showcase platform features. Thanks to Quinn Paynter from Grok who helped with the final animation.
Working with the Content and Customer Support teams at Spacetalk, I helped create this series of short “how to” videos, outlining set up, use and trouble-shooting tips for Spacetalk’s products: wearable smartwatches for kids.
STYLE EXPLORATION FRAMES • In the initial stages of this project I spent some time looking at options for creating art, including a more realistic “rendered” art style (see top right) - and ideas for how to visually show things like nested menus (bottom left).
HOW TO INSERT YOUR SIM CARD • With a plan to develop seventeen of these shorts, I quickly established a simple, clean and design/animation-efficient look and pipeline, utilising a stripped-back colour palette and consistent line-art style.
USING THE SPACETALK APP • The second short in the series introduced the accompanying app with a quick icon-based overview.
MESSAGING ANIMATION • This one also included some simplified UI we were using for other internal development work.
