Spacetalk UI/UX Design
Spacetalk • 2022 • Adobe Illustrator, After Effects & Figma
In 2021-2022 I worked as Lead Designer at Spacetalk, a wearables technology company whose main product was a smartwatch phone for kids. This role covered the full gamut of design needs for the business, from product to packaging to marketing. Here are some product features I worked on.
Screen Flows: App • The screens shown here illustrate a feature I worked on called “Feelings”, where a child could share how they’re feeling with parents and caregivers. I produced UX flows, screens/panels and icons, and worked with Spacetalk’s developers to implement.
Screen Flows: Watch • The other side of the process involved the child receiving the request on their device, or voluntarily sending a notification to the parent app. These flows show the various outcomes of these interactions.
Screen Mockups • These screens show the Feelings feature on the app’s Map screen and watch’s display. I designed the ‘emojis’ and steps icons.
Wireframes • Another feature the company was looking to develop was a an entertainment/sports updates feature, with the big challenge being how to make this a pleasant user experience on a small wearable device. The larger plan was to allow for multiple sports/codes, so I began with a launcher. The user could then dig deeper to see recent results, upcoming fixtures and a leaderboard.
UI Mockups • The work on this feature progressed to developing the above UI. A big focus here was balancing information density with usability - the watches had middling processors, so finding the balance required some testing!
Animated UI • A final step for higher ups approval involved producing some animated UI in After Effects.
